Being On the Deck of the Titanic

When you know your affair is going to end in disaster

What’s an affair like?

One Redditor described it:

It’s like getting invited to go on a cruise to exotic new locales, dancing on the Lido deck, and all the yummy food and good stuff. The only problem is that you know you’re on the Titanic the whole time. If you can handle the knowledge that there’s an iceberg somewhere in your future, it’s wonderful.

You think you are prepared for the iceberg, but you’re not.

You are on deck and horrified at the unfolding disaster, waiting for the inevitable sinking.

You get the message you’ve been dreading. “I can’t do this anymore…”

That one.

The pit of your stomach drops to the bottom of the ocean.

In affairs, we may find the “perfect” partner, but it can come crashing down for any number of reasons. Then, you feel the sting. You will silently grieve. And you may never want to dip your toe back in the water.
