But you are certainly right that once a partner has done what can be done to motivate the other, with no success, there should be a measure of dignity to be reclaimed in not continuing such a hopeless pursuit. To keep asking for sex, or even something beyond occasional short mechanical sex, is degrading that compounds the rejection, and a humiliation best avoided.
