I’d say honesty. A willingness to reveal oneself on the page. Obviously, there is an art to good writing — sentence structure, word choice, readability. But “good” is subjective, of course. What I like, you may not.
And art is art. It’s ultimately for you, alone. For your joy in creating it. Am I right?
If you lose the spark to write for whatever reason, it’s time to recharge and regroup. Screw the stats and the $, it’s all meaningless.
And The Medium beast is all about new content. Don’t feed it. Don’t buy into the fact that you need to “perform.”
I write for me. Period.
No one else matters.
